D.I.Y Household Cleaners

I have obtained these recipes from Cleanmyspace.com. Melissa Maker is one of my favorite YouTube cleaners. I use these almost everyday to clean. Now you want to continue to use some of your normal household cleaners as well because each type of cleaner has it’s own job.

The 4 key ingredients you’ll require are:

Vinegar – mild disinfectant, grease cutter, de-scaler, glass cleaner

Dish soap – neutral pH – gentle and safe on essentially every surface and a mild soap that can lifts off dirt and grime

Rubbing alcohol – at least 65% USP in order for it to qualify as a disinfectant, can be mixed with water

Hydrogen peroxide – naturally occurring bleach, used in Oxy powders. Uses oxygen to break bonds between dirt and bacteria and the surface they are on. A great disinfectant, stain remover and natural whitener.

Each one of these cleaners cost about $4 to make and using the ingredients listed above you can make multiple bottles of each.

Here are the recipes:

Glass Cleaner

1 part water, 1 part vinegar.   Use to clean windows and mirrors with a glass cleaning cloth or newsprint.  The smell dissipates quickly.

Disinfectant

1 part water, 1 part rubbing alcohol.  Use to spray and leave after you’ve cleaned a surface, only use where required i.e. points of contact, cutting boards, bathrooms etc. Note that a disinfectant does not necessarily clean (i.e. lift dirt off) so this is the second part of a two-step cleaning process (first part is the actual cleaning with a cleaner).

All-Purpose Cleaner

1 tablespoon of dish soap per bottle of water. Great to use for cleaning kitchen, bathroom surfaces, hallways, most furniture. If you are finding residue, reduce the amount of dish liquid being used (they vary in recipes).

Tub and tile Cleaner / Degreaser

1 part vinegar, 1 part dish liquid. Use for soap scum on tiles and glass, greasy kitchens etc. Spray, let it sit for 5 minutes and start to clean.

Stain Remover

2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 1 part dish liquid.  Amazing, simply spray on a stain, rub it in, rinse it out. It can also be used as a pre-treatment for stains. Test in an inconspicuous area first as the hydrogen peroxide may discolor.

Fabric Refresher

2 parts warm water, 1 cup of your choice of fabric beads and 2TBSP of alcohol.

Smells amazing and has lasting scent. Simply spray on your fabrics and let dry.

You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to help make them smell better. Some of my favorite scents are lavender, lemon grass, rosemary mint and clean cotton.

Be sure to use labels and write on each bottle what the recipe is and what is inside.

No Spend March

As you read that title you are probably wondering how is that possible and how can you survive and entire month of no excess spending. I have come up with some basic guidelines to follow to help you survive.

1. No eating out- Now that doesn’t mean that if you have a special occasion that you can’t eat out this just means no eating or just because you feel like being lazy and not cooking.

2. No unnecessary shopping- this means things that do not have anything to do with your basic day to day living.

3. Minimize you grocery list- This means take out all those snack foods and sodas and things you do not need for basic nutrition.

4. Bills – Now this one is just self explanatory you have to pay you rent and bills.

5. Buy only the necessary household items to keep you house tidy. Also making your own cleaners are cost efficient and better for your family. (I made a blog post about homemade cleaners)

So basically just don’t go out to eat or spend excessive money on things you do not truly need. This is also a great time to de litter your house and sell unwanted items to maximize your savings.

I Deactivated my Facebook // What I Learned

I have been without a Facebook for over a week. I did so because it was causing a lot of bad things in my life and my mental health. This is one thing I never thought I could do but I did it and I wanted to share my thoughts and tell you what I learned.

On the first day of deactivation I was very anxious. I felt like I was missing out on something and I felt very detached from the world. I kept clicking on the app only to remember that I was no longer a member of the Facebook community. As the second and third days rolled around I didn’t feel as anxious but I still woke up every morning and grabbed my phone to check Facebook. It’s amazing to step back and realize how much of my life I actually spent just “checking” Facebook.

After about a week I stopped even wanting to look at my Facebook. The only thing I felt alarmed by was that I was absent from Facebook for nine days and absolutely no one contacted me to see if I was ok or what may have happened. It really proved to me that the validation I was always seeking was only in my own mind. I thought by deleting my Facebook I would miss important things or I would miss someone sharing something special with me only to find out that even if I disappeared no one would notice.

I have reactivated my Facebook today only to catch upon my Thrive business and make sure everyone was ok and I definitely didn’t miss the bull crap you read and all the drama. I think I may deactivate for good.

All in all this was a good experience for me and I suggest you at least try it for a week. It will open your eyes to a lot.

2017 Reading Stats & 2018 Bookish Goals

2017 was a rough year for me even with my reading goals. I read 32/30 books so I read my goal. I read 7,100 pages, the longest book I read was A Million June’s, second longest book was King Arthur and his Knights. The shortest book I read was Tea and Madness. I had 12 five star ratings, 10 four star, 6 three star and 3 unrated. My goal for 2018 is 40 Books. I’d like to read more classic books and possibly more poetry.

Happy New Year!!

Hello everyone, I hope you had an amazing holiday season. I am so sorry I have been so absent I have been going through some things health related, relationship related and mentally. I will expand on this in a later post. Well since 2018 is here and 2017 was such a terrible year for me I have decided to set myself some goals for this coming year to get to a better place and live a happier and healthier lifestyle. I thought I would share those goals/Resolutions with you all in case you are in the same boat as me.

First off I am finally going to step it up and get my butt into shape, and not just a round shape haha. My goal weight loss wise is at least 85lbs or down to a medium/large shirt and size 14/16 pants which ever comes first! Secondly I have also decided I am going to stop spending money on dumb shit and actually plan for my future. I have cut out all subscriptions I have, except Apple Music of course and decided my husband and I will go on one date per paycheck. Next, I would like to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. I feel like I’m wasting my life away sleeping late which is cause by 3 or 5 o’clock bedtimes. Next I aim to be more active on all my social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, wordpress and YouTube) and post more positive things and keep my negative thoughts and feeling to my journal and my therapist. Lastly, I aim to be more active in my independent sales such as Thrive, Country Scents Candles and Lala Leggings. I aim to at least get two customers per month and step out of my comfort zone.

I hope you all will join me on this journey of bettering my life and overall well-being. Comment some of your New Years Resolutions, id love to see them!
